Leland Eliason, Th.D., is Executive Director and Provost Emeritus of Bethel Seminary of Bethel University, St. Paul, MN. During his tenure at Bethel Seminary, Leland served a six year term on what is now called the Board of Commissioners at the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). While in this role he chaired the committee that wrote a new set of Distance Education Standards, which were subsequently approved by the member schools of ATS. Following his retirement from Bethel, Leland helped start and then became the Founding Dean of the School of Ministry at Richmont Graduate University, Atlanta, GA.

For three years beginning in the fall of 2014, Leland served as Consultant to Grace Theological Seminary to help create and develop a new model of seminary education. Called Deploy, the model uses a Competency Based Theological Education (CBTE) design and became the first such seminary in the United States to receive approval from both ATS and from the Higher Learning Commission. During that time, he became a member of the CBTE Peer Group at ATS and he chaired the subcommittee which wrote proposed ATS standards for CBTE. He, and his wife Carol, live in a suburb of St. Paul, MN.
